In this course you first learn the fundamentals of data replication and become proficient in planning, implementing, and managing the VERITAS Volume Replicator component of your disaster recovery strategy. You then use VERITAS Volume Replicator in cluster environments together with VERITAS Cluster Server for disaster recovery purposes.
Description:
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you should be able to
Describe industry-standard replication technology concepts and components.
Describe VERITAS Volume Replicator-specific concepts and components.
Develop a plan and implement VERITAS Volume Replicator.
Initialize, synchronize, and replicate sample data.
Perform a takeover, a migration, and a failback.
Configure a global cluster using the VCS Global Cluster Option.
Manage a global cluster environment, including remote clusters, global heartbeats, and global service groups.
Configure notification and failover behavior in a global cluster.
Describe how VCS supports replication.
Implement and manage replication in a global cluster.
Perform off-host processing under VCS control.
Implement a Replicated Data Cluster.
Who Should Attend
This course is for VCS administrators who are responsible for implementing and managing clusters across multiple sites using VVR as the data replication method.
Prerequisites
You should have working knowledge of Solaris system administration and configuration. Completion of the Storage Foundation 4.x and VERITAS Cluster Server 4.x (Suite) courses, or equivalent experience on each product, is required.
Hands-On
This course includes practical exercises, assessment items, and demonstrations that enable you to test your new skills and begin to transfer them into your working environment.
