IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) lets you manage your systems graphically, dynamically, and flexibly, with a browser-enabled interface that helps transform systems management data into information you need to keep systems up and running. Learn to install IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1, configure monitoring agents, and implement failover support for ITM servers. Practice concepts you learn in class during hands-on labs.

Audience:

This is an intermediate course for system administrators and services individuals who deploy ITM 6.1.

Objectives:

  • Plan an ITM 6.1 implementation
  • Install, configure and maintain ITM 6.1 and its prerequisites
  • Install and configure IBM Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agents
  • Implement failover support for ITM
  • Describe how to implement ITM 6.1 user security and infrastructure component communication security

Prerequisites:

You should complete:

  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for Operators (TV280)
  • IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 for Administrators (TV301)

You should have:

  • Familiarity with ITM architecture
  • Ability to use and navigate the IBM Tivoli Enterprise Portal
  • Working knowledge of how to access situation events, situation event details, and status changes
  • Ability to manage situation events effectively using ITM
  • Experience with the IBM Tivoli desktop
  • Working knowledge of IBM TEC 3.9
  • Working knowledge of system administration of Linux and Windows 2000
