IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter 2.0 Installation and Administration

Description:

Learn to install, configure, and operate the Netcool/Reporter product. Get an understanding of the hardware and software requirements, configuring the operating system, configuring the database, installing and configuring the High Performance Oracle Gateway in Reporter mode, installing the Netcool/Reporter Server, JRun, Apache, and command line interaction with the various software components.

Learn how to administer users and groups, data sources, the Reporter server, and user pages. The course has practical sessions with you performing installation and configuration activities on a dedicated Solaris workstation. An Oracle 8i instance and Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus Version 3.6 (V3.6) are pre-installed on each individual Solaris8 workstation. You learn how to customize the Oracle instance in preparation for the installation and operation of the High Performance Oracle Gateway. The Reporter server is then installed and integrated with the Oracle instance. Then, learn how to manage users and groups, data sources, and roles and user pages.

NOTE: You must bring a Personal Computer (PC) or laptop running Internet Explorer V5 or higher to complete the Web-based configuration activities.

Upon completion of this course, you are able to deploy and integrate Netcool/Reporter V2.0 on a Solaris host, which you learn and use basic troubleshooting and faultfinding techniques.

Audience:

This is an intermediate course for technical individuals who install IBM Tivoli Netcool/Reporter V2.0 and individuals who need to understand the techniques and processes required.

• Build the Oracle repository tablespace and tables
• Identify files that require modification for the High-Performance Oracle Gateway

Prerequisites:

You must complete:

• IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 7.0 Administration and Configuration (TN020)

And you must have the following skills and knowledge:

• Solaris8 system administrator
• Ability to manage UNIX file systems and edit text files
• Thorough understanding of the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus
