Description:

Learn the key product processes of IBM Tivoli Netcool/Precision for Telecommunications Networks (TN), including integration with the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus product. After covering a basic overview of product components and their associated functionality, install and configure the Netcool/Precision TN product. In the latter half of the course, learn how to modify default discovery characteristics and customize the Network Pilot for reporting and topology viewing.

Audience:

This is a basic course for system administrators who install, configure, and maintain the Netcool/Precision TN product.

Prerequisites:

You should complete:

  • IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 7.0 Administration and Configuration (TN020)

You should possess the following skills and knowledge:

  • System administrator level understanding of UNIX and the UNIX Editor
  • Practical understanding of UNIX system administration as it applies to network management, including Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network management applications
  • Experience troubleshooting software problems and creating workarounds/problem fixes
  • Basic scripting techniques
  • Basic telecommunications networking such as Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer (DWDM), Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) / Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
