Description:
This course teaches the process, tools, and key modeling decisions involved in designing a service-oriented architecture using IBM Rational Software Architect. The course applies the principles of the Rational Unified Process for Service-Oriented Modeling and Architecture (RUP for SOMA) method and Model-Driven Development (MDD) approach. Based on a telecommunications industry case study, students use Rational Software Architect to develop a service model and seed an implementation model, using existing services and assets, UML model templates, model transformations, and the UML Profile for Software Services.
Audience:
This intermediate, instructor-led, classroom course is intended for the following audience:
- Software Architects
- Designers
Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:
Describe the role in service-oriented architecture of:
- Architecture and the architect
- The Rational Software Architect tool
- Reusable assets
- The RUP for SOMA method
Transform a system use-case model into a service model
Define service specifications and their operations
Model service collaborations
Model service providers and consumers
Partition the architecture
Assign parts to partitions
Model service channels
Design service operation messages and parameters
Validate the final service model
Transition into detailed design and implementation
