Description:

IBM - Rational Technical Support offers the Technical Support Advancement Program (TSAP). The goal of the program is to better prepare participants for troubleshooting IBM - Rational ClearCase products in their environment.

TSAP will provide the student with knowledge of ClearCase internals: processes, communication, structures, advanced administration, etc…

Audience:

Recommended for: Users of ClearCase, system administrators who support ClearCase, with at least 1 year of experience with the product.

Objectives:

Part 1: An in-depth look at the ClearCase server processes and communication between them. Scenarios of common operations are used to illustrate.

Part 2: A general overview of all things related to the ClearCase Raima VOB database touching on the following topics:

• The structure of the database
• How ClearCase accesses it
• Common database errors and how to troubleshoot them
• Common tools used to examine and repair db's

Part 3: Discuss the use of UNIX, Window and ClearCase tools and ClearCase tools such as netstat, nfsstat, mvfstime, mvfstat and others in the context of evaluating ClearCase related performance issues

Part 4: A comprehensive overview of the ClearCase Remote Client

Part 5: Build: Introduction to clearmake and omake  as well as best practices

• Basic Understand of both make, clearmake and omake
• Why use clearmake / omake?
• Debugging clearmake issues

Part 6: This module provides an overview of the various tools and techniques that can be used to help troubleshoot some of the most common Multisite issues.

Prerequisites:

You should complete the following IBM Rational courses or have equivalent knowledge or experience:

• ClearCase fundamentals
• ClearCase Metadata course
• ClearCase Administration course
• ClearCase-MultiSite course
• Or 1 year experience with the product
