Management with Sniffer Distributed focuses on the installation and configuration of the Sniffer Distributed application and network management solution. This two-day introductory course provides an in-depth look at the critical aspects of configuring and managing Sniffer Distributed appliances in medium and large enterprise-wide networks. Participants learn how to create a secure environment, provide appropriate access to features and functions, manage maintenance and support, and apply techniques that will improve the performance of Sniffer Distributed in their network. Management concepts are reinforced through hands-on exercises and an interactive feature called “Try it now!” using condensed exercises to enhance critical skills and concepts.

Participants Learn To:
• Plan Sniffer enterprise management deployment
• Configure agent adapters, create users, and assign rights
• Utilize Remote Desktop basic functions
• Allow multiple users to simultaneously access a capture
• Set alarms for notification when a threshold is exceeded
• Remotely configure the agent and update agent software
• Configure SNMP and RMON properties to send alarms
• Prevent unauthorized Console access
• Configure Reporter Agent and Reporter Console to run reports for network analysis and troubleshooting
• Configure WebConsole access to Sniffer Distributed agents
Required Prerequisite:
Before taking this class you must attend one of the following:
• Troubleshooting with Sniffer Distributed (TRN-112-TCL)
or
Network Analysis and Troubleshooting (TRN-101-TCL)
• Students must have a working knowledge of LAN technologies and topologies, the OSI reference model, and the function of network devices
