Description:

Building and Delivering Courses Using LearningSpace 4 is a course for curriculum designers, developers and instructors who will use LearningSpace 4 to create and deliver courses to distributed learners. The course is targeted to the new and experienced LearningSpace developers/instructors and is designed to teach the tools, strategies, and methodologies for building and delivering courses in this new environment. The course is presented using extensive hands-on activities and exercises designed to give experience building course materials, assigning parameters and defining relational properties among the course components. Students learn to use the product's capabilities to link web-based training modules to LearningSpace Core and to define the module properties to offer multiple paths for course completion, including pre-requisite activities, optional activities, and remedial modules. The course also addresses the tasks of course delivery. Preparing, starting, delivering, and closing the course are tasks that all instructors complete. LearningSpace 4 offers instructors unique online tools for course delivery including live and asynchronous discussion and live online sessions for presentation and application sharing. Best-practice guidelines are presented to support novice online instructors. Finally, students learn to use the Reports module to view and evaluate data about the course, enrollment, students' progress, and completion of course objectives. This course is recommended for both the course designer and instructor. Both the designer and instructor must be able to create and modify course components as well as understand the tasks and tools for course delivery. This course does not teach the development of web-based training modules (such as Authorware and Dreamweaver). Developers should attend or acquire training for these tools.
