Description:
This course introduces you to EGL (Enterprise Generation Language), a 4GL well-suited to the rapid development of Web applications using either browser-based GUIs or traditional "green-screen" text-based user interfaces (TUIs). The course also provides an introduction to JSF (JavaServer Faces) and shows how JSF and EGL can work together to provide a rapid development environment for Web applications. The course further shows how EGL can be used to easily integrate relational database access into Web applications.
Audience:
This basic course is for programmers who are interested in creating Web applications.
Objectives:
- Use WebSphere Studio to create and manage EGL projects.
- Develop JSPs with EGL and JSF.
- Use EGL to access data in a relational database.
- Use WebSphere Studio to build, test and deploy EGL applications
Prerequisites:
Experienced programmers in a procedural or object-oriented language, such as COBOL, PL/I or Java. You should also have a basic understanding of the Internet and the components of Web applications. Java and Web development expertise are not required.
