Learn about the skills required to deploy and administer IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact Version 4.0.

Through practice exercises, learn about common policies in use and reinforce key development concepts. You should plan to attend the entire course as concepts will be built upon throughout the length of the course. During hands-on lab exercises, an IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus and sample relational database is available to use with the IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact product. Focus on key concepts, which are then applied in a policy building lab. Each lab progressively builds on previous labs, offering you the opportunity to input policies and to debug and explore how each one works.

  • Understand how Impact processes events from the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer
  • Administer users, groups, and roles as they affect how IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact functions
  • Use the policy building tools
  • Build Impact policies using proper syntax and utilizing supplied action functions
  • Interpret and implement Impact error handling and high-availability solutions
  • Translate how IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact integrates with such 3rd party applications and technologies like Instant Messaging, e-mail and web services

The majority of this course focuses on developing advanced event correlations and integrations with the Tivoli Netcool suite of products. You should have some background in software/systems development.
