Description:

IBM Lotus Expeditor is the server component of an end-to-end mobile solution that enables the management of solutions built on open industry standards and information to be delivered where it is needed-while maintaining transaction integrity and data security. It provides a Java based management and services platform to support and manage mobile clients while providing access from the client to enterprise data and enterprise middleware.

This workshop focuses on the server side management of Lotus Expeditor. It should be used with the client software, Lotus Expeditor Client, to develop and deploy a complete solution.

Audience:

This is a basic course for system adminstrators and solution implementers.

Objectives:

• design, build, deploy, and maintain sophisticated solutions that can adapt to device and network conditions and can support service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications for Web services
• extend existing applications and enterprise information systems to mobile devices in connected and intermittently connected environments
• define and set up the deployment topology including security, applications management, connectivity, and data synchronization

Prerequisites:

You should have:

• Good technical understanding of the Internet
• Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, systems and languages, particularly Java technology
• Familiarity with the Rational development environment
• Familiarity with the WebSphere Application Server programming model, specifically servlets and JavaServer Pages (JSPs)
• Familiarity with the Eclipse programming model is helpful, but not required

Overview of Lotus Expeditor Enterprise Edition (server), Lotus Expeditor Client and the Lotus Expeditor Toolkit

• Installation and configuration of Lotus Expeditor Enterprise Edition
• WebSphere MQ Everyplace (MQe) for secure and guaranteed delivery of messages through asynchronous messaging
• Support for SOA applications using Web services
• DB2 Everyplace for relational data synchronization
• MQe and Java Message Service (JMS)
• Web services
• Device management services for software installation and maintenance on devices
• Product update installer to add, update and remove files
