This advanced course is intended for anyone responsible for purchasing, managing, and planning of an IBM System p POWER6 server running the AIX 5L V5.3 TL6 or greater operating system, and with an Hardware Management Console (HMC) at version 7.

Objectives:

- Describe key POWER6 hardware characteristics associated with the CPU and the I/O subsystems
- Identify new features currently available and planned for AIX6
- Discuss continuous availability options such as storage keys, concurrent AIX Kernel update, and FFDC
- Discuss and configure the new approaches to virtualization which will be available such as Workload Partitions and Live Application Mobility
Prerequisites:
You must have basic AIX and LPAR system administration experience.
The AIX prerequisite may be met by attending one of the following classes:
- AIX System Administration I: Implementation (AU140) or (Q1314)
- AIX System Administration II: Problem Determination (AU160) or (Q1316)
- AIX 5L Implementation Differences (Q1237)
- AIX 5L Jumpstart for UNIX Professionals (AW180)
- AIX 5L for UNIX Professionals (Q1845)
or equivalent AIX skills.
The LPAR prerequisite may be met by attending:.
