BMC Identity Management: Administering – Part 2

Overview:

This course provides instruction and hands-on practice in the setup, implementation, and customization options of the Enterprise SecurityStation (ESS) server, BMC Identity Management Agents, and BMC Identity Management/Password Manager. Topics include the use of extensions to the BMC Identity Management USA-API available through pre-and post- function script calls in the BMC Identity Management Agents.

Description:

Intermediate Users - This course is designed for users who are comfortable with the basics of the product, but are ready to delve into advanced features and customization of the product. More than 6 months of experience with the product is assumed.
 
Course Abstract:
 This course provides instruction and hands-on practice in the setup, implementation, and customization options of the Enterprise SecurityStation (ESS) server, BMC Ideintity Management Agents, and BMC Ideintity Management/Password Manager. Topics include the use of extensions to the BMC Ideintity Management USA-API available through pre-and post- function script calls in the BMC Ideintity Management Agents.

Course Objectives

# Set up Enterprise SecurityStation and Establish Connections to BMC Ideintity Management Agents

    * Install Enterprise SecurityStation server, Windows GUI, and BMC Ideintity Management Agents
    * Configure system connections, gateways, platforms and RSS
    * Establish connections between Enterprise SecurityStation and BMC Ideintity Management Agents
    * Implement system customization options

# View System Architecture, Control and Database Maintenance

    * Describe the function of Enterprise SecurityStation components
    * Configure system connections, gateways, platforms and RSSs
    * Use the menu system to control Enterprise SecurityStation components
    * Use the Troubleshooting Menu
    * Backup and restore the database
    * Set special user passwords

# Use Encryption and Password Synchronization

    * Implement encryption on Enterprise SecurityStation and BMC Ideintity Management Agents
    * Refresh encryption keys
    * Troubleshoot encryption problems
    * Password interception mechanisms
    * Set up password interception and propagation options

# Use System and Keyword Customization

    * Implement customization options on the Enterprise SecurityStation server
    * Define and maintain Enterprise SecurityStation from "keywords" (fields)
    * Use attributes to control field content and GUI behavior

# Implement scripts with the BMC Ideintity Management USA-API and Enterprise SecurityStation Exits

    * View transaction flow and functions of the BMC Ideintity Management USA-API
    * Build scripts to run as pre-scripts and post-scripts on agent platforms, including process flow, script composition, return codes, and accessing user and system fields
    * Customization options using scripts at predefined Enterprise SecurityStation exit points

# Utilize the Enterprise SecurityStation Batch Interface

    * Use data conversion and import utilities
    * Import command syntax and examples
    * Extract information from the Enterprise SecurityStation database

# Use BMC Ideintity Management/Password Manager

    * Use BMC Ideintity Management/Password Manager to reset user passwords and establish challenges
    * Customize and localize the BMC Ideintity Management/Password Manager interface

 
Required Knowledge:
#  Basic knowledge of the functioning of the Enterprise SecurityStation (ESS) Console or Windows GUI
# Recommended for exits and pre/post scripts: UNIX Shell script programming, Windows Batch programming, or TCL script programming
