Course Abstract:
The course is for IT professionals who are responsible for using BMC CONTROL-M products to monitor and manage a production environment.
This course covers product usage of BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager and BMC CONTROL-M/Desktop. The course introduces intermediate concepts and familiarizes the student with the functionality of the BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager (BMC CONTROL-M/EM) product for Microsoft Windows. BMC CONTROL-M/EM is a monitoring and management tool for the enterprise production environment. It allows users to manage job processing across all platforms supported by BMC CONTROL-M and BMC CONTROL-M agents. Much of the course covers the creation of job processing definitions using the companion product BMC CONTROL-M/Desktop, and then using the BMC CONTROL-M/EM interface to view and monitor these jobs.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:
Use multiplatform BMC CONTROL-M through application of BMC CONTROL-M/EM and BMC CONTROL-M/Desktop.
Create job processing definitions, including controlling the scheduling of jobs by a variety of means, using BMC CONTROL-M/Desktop.
Define and manage prerequisite conditions for jobs, by creating Out condition and In condition definitions.
Use BMC CONTROL-M/EM and BMC CONTROL-M/Desktop to control job execution based on prerequisite job completion, availability of resources, or time.
Create and use confirmation calendars and periodic calendars in job processing definitions.
Create Scheduling Groups, a BMC CONTROL-M feature that allows you to define In and Out conditions for groups of jobs.
Define and use variables in jobs.
Use the post-processing facilities to perform actions based on the completion status of a task.
Analyze job flow from a previous day using archived ViewPoints.
Use BMC CONTROL-M/Forecast to forecast when jobs will run in the future, including the generation of forecast environments.
Define collections and perform mass job updates.
Create Shouts (Alerts) that provide information to users about the status of jobs.
Use the BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager Reporting Facility to generate reports.
Define and use Global Conditions.
The BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager 6.3: Scheduling - Part 1 (WBT) is included with the purchase of this course and it is designed to provide CONTROL-M Schedulers with the knowledge and skills they require to navigate in a production environment using the BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager v. 6.3 user interface.. It is a required prerequisite to the BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager 6.x: Scheduling - Part 2 classroom training. This WBT will take approximately 6 hours to complete. Login information for this WBT will be sent to you 12 business days prior to the scheduled course.
