Description:

Target Audience:
New Users - This course is an introductory course designed to teach basic concepts and familiarize the student with the functionality of the product.

Course Abstract:
This is a high-intensity immersion course designed to prepare the student to take the BMC CONTROL-M for Distributed Systems Certified Engineer Test. This test will be administered at the end of the class. The class days will be long (between 9 and 11 hours a day) and will include additional reading assignments each evening. Time will be allotted on Friday to take the 2-hour certification examination.
This class covers topics from BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager Scheduling II and BMC CONTROL-M Configuration and Administration classes to prepare you for the certification test. We will work through a case study that includes many of the challenges you can encounter during an implementation. The participants are then given the opportunity to work through these challenges with hands-on labs. Additionally, the participant will be presented with the best practices for using the monitoring, scheduling, and administration tools and will practice using these tools throughout the case study.

In particular students will learn:

How to create and manage job definitions
How to monitor and resolve production job problems
How to plan, install and configure each of the components of BMC CONTROL-M/Enterprise Manager, BMC CONTROL-M Server and BMC CONTROL-M agents.
How to implement and use Control Modules for application scheduling
How to maintain and troubleshoot the production environment.
How to migrate from older versions of BMC CONTROL-M to version 6.2.x.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:
Use multiplatform BMC CONTROL-M through application of BMC CONTROL-M/EM and BMC CONTROL-M/Desktop.
